Interview With Mick Money – Opening An Estate Agent In Attleborough
Money Properties director and owner, Mick Money, sat down to discuss the opening of a second branch in Attleborough, whilst reflecting on the company’s successful history and what’s in store for the future.
Tell us more about Money Properties
Money Properties is a family run estate agent, with my wife, Karen, and son, Christian both heavily involved in the day-to-day running of the business. We also have a wonderful sales and lettings team that are passionate about providing high quality services to people that ensures they can successfully move onto the next step of their property journey.
How long has Money Properties been in business?
Money Properties began its journey in 2003 and we opened our first branch in Wymondham, which is still around today. We’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a lot of success over the years in Wymondham and the surrounding villages which has allowed us to develop a blueprint for successfully selling properties in the area.
2023 – so this year marks a big anniversary?
Yes, in fact, we celebrate 20 years of being in business on March 10th, 2023. We’re extremely proud to have sold more than 3,000 houses in that period and let more than 2,000 properties for local landlords.
It’s been quite an unbelievable journey along the way, and we have seen a lot of changes take place in Wymondham and Attleborough during that time – both good and bad.
The town centre, in particular, is significantly different to how it looked 20 years ago, with a lot of businesses closing down due to retirement, the rise of internet shopping or as a side effect of the pandemic.
I would love to see the town centre thriving once again and with the first phase of the 4,000-home scheme given the green light by Breckland Council, this wonderful market town will hopefully return to its former glory.
Why have you opened a new branch in Attleborough?
On a personal level, I have developed a close relationship with Attleborough over the years. I have lots of good friends living in and around the town and I would love to be able to help the people who live here. We know how challenging the property market can be for buyers, sellers, landlords and renters and we want to offer our expertise and knowledge to benefit the local community.
Attleborough is also a growing town, with a lot of exciting developments in the pipeline. For example, the 4,000-home expansion plan on the south-eastern side of Attleborough would do wonders for the town, doubling the population and generating a host of new possibilities for people living and working in the area. The development would also see two key road junctions being built, along with a link road from London Road to Buckenham Road.
And thanks to our continued growth as a business, it has allowed us to plan for expansion and Attleborough seemed the most logical next step for our company.
Who oversees the Attleborough branch?
My son, Christian, is at the forefront of operations in Attleborough. He has a lot of experience in this field having spent more than a decade working in the London property sector, whilst also earning a master’s degree in building surveying.
Sarah Short has also taken up a prominent role and she is able to draw on more than 30 years of industry experience – a quarter of which was in Attleborough. Local estate agent Susie Ley also makes up part of the team, adding vital knowledge and expertise about Attleborough.
What does the future hold for Money Properties?
The last 20 years have gone by in a flash, and we can only hope that the next two decades prove to be just as successful. We love what we do at Money Properties and we really take pride in all the people we’ve been able to help during that time.
We’re excited about what the future holds for Attleborough and hope to be a key part of its growth over the coming years.
